EMS Summer schools in pure and applied mathematics

Objective

The project consists in a series of eight Summer schools and Conferences in pure and applied mathematics, to be held in various European locations in 2004 and 2005. They will represent a total of 415 training weeks for 295 eligible researchers. They will f ocus both on the high level achievements of European mathematicians and on new potential applications of mathematics in science and technology. Two schools will be in analysis, three in statistics, two in geometry and one in computer graphics and applied mathematics. Each will be designed with the training of young researchers as main aim. The general practical and scientific organisation will be handled by the European Mathematical Society, which has taken this opportunity to strenghten an integrated coll aboration with the European Regional Committee of the Bernoulli Society, the Centre de Recerca Matematica (CRM) of Barcelona, the Scuola Matematica Interuniversitaria (SMI) of Firenze, the Mathematical Research and Conference Center in Bedlewo (Poland), th e Emmy Noether Institute (German-Israeli research institute located in Israel) and various groups of mathematicians working in European universities.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
