Objective
The general objective of LATIRC project is to contribute to the integration of Latvia in Europe by providing high quality and cost-effective services that promote transnational technology transfer and assure certain economic benefits for the client compani es. In the period of joining EU, it is very important for Latvia to be a part of IRC Network, to benefit from it and to contribute to it. IRC Network has approved its efficiency in the transnational technology transfer and improvement of innovation perform ance. The project LATIRC is introducing the IRC Latvia, who will implement the Network activities in Latvia. IRC Latvia will provide qualitative and cost-effective services that promote trans-national technology co-operation and commercialization of resea rch and innovation. The IRC Latvia services will be pertinent to regional needs and provided in synergy with national and regional support structures, responsible for innovation and industry development. IRC Latvia will conform the innovation promotion and technology transfer activities with national governmental and institutional organisations. IRC Latvia will stimulate the integration between research and industry and promotion of innovation-friendly policy and environment. The IRC Latvia activities wil l concentrate on SMEs as their principal target group, although also other organizations will be included in the scope of activities, like universities, research centres, larger companies, professional and trade associations, enterprise support centres and development agencies. IRC Latvia activities will cover the whole territory of Latvia. Experienced and professional IRC Latvia team will do its best to achieve the project goals. The project will be executed by the Latvian Technological Centre (LTC). LTC has a 4 years (2000-2004) experience of coordinating IRC LATVIA project, as well as great experience in assisting SMEs in new product development and international co-operation.
