Objective
The Hellenic Innovation Relay Center (HIRC) is not a new member of the IRC network. HIRC has been participating in the IRC network since the very first day of its inception; as such, it has accumulated a long-standing experience on issues pertaining to th e workings of IRCs with considerable success. HIRC, recently nominated as one of the best IRCs in the network in view of the number of success stories achieved, being involved as organizer in the biggest brokerage events of the Network, leading thematic group activities and providing technical services in support of innovation through the expertise of the HIRC partners, will continue this policy adding new services such as benchmarking, technology audit, technology and market intelligence, new product de velopment consultations and marketing of innovation. Special care will be provided in the exploitation of research results (European and National). A new dimension in the activity of HIRC concerns the involvement of its services in regional innovation i nitiatives and projects supported by regional operational programs (ROPs) and the structural funds. In the 3rd CSF every Greek region has developed an innovation sub-program into the respective ROP, usually based on the results of a previous RIS / RITTS . The function of HIRC is to build bridges between regional companies and technology providers, using a full package of support services, including the selection of technology, customisation, and funding. Funding of innovation will be an additional serv ice through the established close collaboration with the Venture Capital NBG, the Technology Parks (HIRC subcontractors) and the Regional Authorities. The above strategy has relied, apart of thematic group activities, in the close collaboration (Memorand um of Collaboration and Letters of Intend) with certain IRCs, Regional Authorities and Venture Capital Firm.
