Objective
An overall objective of ZIP (Zilina Innovation Policy) project is, through the RIS process, to create an enabling environment for research & development, innovation and business in the Zilina region. Key objective of ZIP is to set up basis for regional institutional structures for innovation support, based on collaborative networks between existing institutions and organisations, and to implement a strategic innovation framework that will enable existing firms to introduce more innovation at all levels and create a positive culture for new entrepreneurs. One success factor to achieve this will be to establish autonomous and stable networks of key-persons from science, administration and industry (triple helix) within the region, as well as on an ?over-re gional? level, in neighbour and foreign countries. This objective fully responds to the Technical content of the ?Research and Innovation? Work Programme: ?Encouraging regional innovation policies and trans-regional cooperation?. Specific project?s objecti ves include more high performing companies in the Zilina region, easier access to knowledge and expertise as well as improved support for companies. Beyond the national aspect, they take into consideration the European scientific, technical, and wider societal and policy objectives of the Research and Innovation activity area, by integrating the objectives of the 6th Framework Programme and the Specific Programme ?Structuring the European Research Area?. ZIP project consortium involves four partners: University of Zilina - representing the Self-Governing Region of Zilina, Region of Lower Austria - European region of excellence, Region Sö dermanland, Sweden and BIC Bratislava - representing Slovak Innovation Relay Centre (IRC Slovakia). Project is supervised by the Steering Committee created from all key regional actors in the field of innovation
