Towards excellence in computational structural biology and biomaterials

Objective

Polymer Research Center (PRC) is a center of excellence at Bogazici University for conducting multidisciplinary research in macromolecular science with emphasis on computational structural biology and biomaterials. The proposal COSBIOM is a support actio n to enhance PRC's standing by the following activities: (1) networking with European centers through exchange of visiting scientists/ graduate students and through execution of an international workshop. This will integrate our competency in developi ng new computational methodologies in the fields of structural biology and bioinformatics with experimental and computational groups/companies in Europe for the solution of health-related problems and enhance our collaborations related to the design of stereo-selective synthesis of drugs, and design/synthesis of novel multifunctional polymers with applications in dentistry and nanotechnology. (2) increasing our computational, experimental and human resources, which will strengthen our infrastructure, increase the efficiency of our research and enhance our collaboration potential. The share of our computational, software and data resources with our collaborators and other external users will be achieved by a grid infrastructure built on our resource s. Closely tied with the plan, PRC will continue to effectively disseminate its research results to the scientific world through meetings and publications. The COSBIOM will contribute to European research as well as to research and technological develo pment capacity in Turkey, which will in turn increase Turkey?s participation in the 6th Framework Program and job opportunities for young Turkish scientists.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
