Adaptation of Numerical Hydrodynamic Tools for Integration into Ship Design Systems

Objective

This exploratory action studies the applicability of computational fluid dynamics methods (of the kind used in ship design) to a wide range of problems, including: land vehicle design, flow around and within structures, materials processing, environmental pollution, power production, and reactor design.

Current capabilities will be reviewed and recommendations presented. Applications for ship design will be discussed for purposes of illustration.
