Objective
The Researchers’ Night has been for the seven past editions a regular appointment for the different publics of science in Piedmont. The 2013 edition will rely on new advanced communication, impact assessment and web tools to put more and more the researchers at the center of the project and at the same time to increase the number of participants, the cooperation with other projects, the EU dimension and the global impact of the event.
Indeed, the acronym FACES stresses the emphasis that the project puts on the human face of scientific research, but also on the choice of facing the challenges concerning science and society through innovative methods.
The sharing process at national and EU level started in 2012 with the SHARE project will continue through joint objectives, tools and in particular the implementation of the national website.
In terms of communication, the novelty will be the project “The human face of research” that will allow public and researchers to meet before and after the “Night” on the web, while the impact assessment will be strengthened by the new “Design your own researcher avatar”.
The most successful activity of the 2012 edition is enriched with new content and extended to all Piedmontese cities: the European Coffee corner for science, short multimedia presentations of researchers followed by discussions with public in front of a coffee or a beer enlightened by the music of the universities’ radios. A new appealing space where the public can get in touch with researchers and learn about the European dimension of science.
Needless to say, the best traditional activities of the previous editions will continue with more and more initiatives in all the venues: Alessandria, Asti, Biella, Cuneo, Novara, Torino, Verbania and Vercelli.
The “Night” in Piedmont will also be an opportunity to actively participate in the “International Year of Water Cooperation” as the year 2013 has been declared by the UN.
