Final Report Summary - DUSTBINMOF (Robust N-donor ligand based Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for capture and degradation of harmful gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).)
In agreement with these objectives the following research lines have been addressed:
i) The effect of the deliberate introduction of defects and extra framework cations in metal organic frameworks on the improvement of adsorption of CO2, NO and SO2 contaminant gases.
ii) The improvement of catalytic activity of MOFs for the degradation of toxic molecules by means of control of organic linker extension, interpenetration and metal cluster doping with basic and nucleophilic sites.
iii) Zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) solids were studied for tailoring their photocatalytic properties on the capture and photo reduction of CO2. A mixed ligand approach was implemented in an in-silico theorethical study accompanied to experimentation.
