Continuous Non-invasive diagnosis of Arterial Pressure and Hemodynamics

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - CNAP HD (Continuous Non-invasive diagnosis of Arterial Pressure and Hemodynamics)

Reporting period: 2015-05-01 to 2015-09-30

The aim of the feasibility study for the SME-instrument Phase 1 is to describe how CNSystems Medizintechnik AG wants to successfully introduce two products with the CNAP® HD technology on the market:
- CNAP® HD integral for the use with new PM-systems: CNAP® HD integral should be built into the patient monitoring-systems (PM-systems) of global vendors, when a fully integrated solution is the product of choice.
- CNAP® HD connect for use with existing PM-systems to enhance and expand functionality: CNAP® HD connect will be a stand-alone solution that can be compared with a navigation system in a car placed on the windscreen. It has an iPad-style display and can be connected to any existing PM system with various interfaces.

For both devices, the focus of design shall be on ease-of-use under clinical conditions, as the accuracy has already been established for the existing CNAP® technology and products. They must be easy to integrate into clinical workflow and will document the diagnosis for forensic reasons. For both devices, a new sensor concept shall enable error-free use, direct access to patient's veins and provide for disposables. As an add-on, an increase of clinical acceptance with the help of a web-based new-media information and customer training system shall be developed. This system shall be in close proximity to the user. Last, but not least, the products shall be flexible on pricing and business models for the Operating Room-markets in different countries with different payment systems.
The work performed in Phase 1 has been as follows:
- Development of a business plan including market analysis, go-to-market strategy and financial plan
- Evaluation of strategic partners and understanding their needs for CNAP® HD integral
- Evaluation distributors in focus countries (UK, FR, IT, Scandinavia as well as D and A)
- Analysis of IP regime
- Assessment of design and manufacturing partners
- Assessment of the technical feasibility
o Interfaces to existing patient monitoring systems (PM-Systems)
o New-media information system with provision for regulatory needs
The CNAP® HD technology significantly reduces postoperative complications resulting in enhanced recovery after surgery. The use of CNAP® HD reduces the length of hospital stay and substantially decreases costs of the European health care economy. The annual cost savings potential is estimated to be approximately € 2.6 billion in Europe alone.
