Energy and resource management systems for improved efficiency in the process industries.

Deliverables

MAESTRI Videos

Two films (aprox. 15 min long, promoting findings of WP3). The videos will be in English, subbed in all partners local languages, and will be used to disseminate project results.

Training courses

Consists of Total Efficiency Framework training courses to industrial community. These courses will be based on the previous developed training modules which were provide to the MAESTRI industrial pilots and will be oriented to teach the industrials to use MAESTRI managerial tools and methodologies. The courses will be addressed two target groups inside the industrial community, middle management and top-management. Then, two different courses will be organised as class lessons and will be left open for the participation to all industrial sectors.

MAESTRI International Conference

International conference in the end of the project (1 day event), about energy and resource management in process industries, and covering the main research areas of this project (eco-efficiency, industrial symbiosis, management system, motivation strategies, IoT). The international will be organised in Portugal.

MAESTRI workshops

At least 10 workshops will be organized by project partners (2 per each MAESTRI’s countries) in their countries to industrial associations. The scope of the workshops will be to inform targeted stakeholders, who are expected to support the replication of the project’s results, of the achievements and opportunities that might derive from the application of the developments of MAESTRI.

Efficiency Framework Testing Results

Report the tests and analytical validation of the efficiency framework that will be performed by comparing (by sensitivity analysis) the results of framework with the “conventional” methodologies for the same data input (real data from the industrial case studies). will be used for this comparison.

MAESTRI platform Documentation and installation guidelines

The report includes full documentations, tutorials and deployment guidelines that o provides the basic material for any future installation of the system, updated with lessons learned collected from installation and use of the platform in the pilots - Final release.

Initial Requirements Report

This deliverable presents the initial requirements analysis and goal setting for each of the use cases specifications.

Reports the translation of the platform specific requirements into functional blocks (conceptual, deployment, development, information flow, etc.) and on the definition of the overall MAESTRI platform architecture. Final version.

Simulation and decision support approach for sustainable manufacturing

This report will address: - Simulation module: developed algorithms to integrate/combine methodologies regarding the simulation of different scenarios, considering environmental and economic aspects, as well as resource and energy efficiency and eco-efficiency performance. - Decision support: developed algorithms to integrate/combine methodologies regarding decision support oriented approaches. - Optimization tool: selection and test of the best suited algorithms to perform optimization simulations and optimized scenarios for materials and energy consumption, via overall efficiency and cost-saving targets.

Methods for Efficiency Framework for resource and energy efficiency description

This deliverable will report the: - Integration of the ecoPROSYS and MSM approaches: the developed algorithms to integrate and combine the eco-efficiency and efficiency methodologies and tools will be presented - Integrated framework: presents the Efficiency Framework that will be developed by the integration of all tools and methodologies (LCA, LCC) defined and specified in Task 2.1.

Internal challenges and barriers for energy and resource management

Report the most relevant internal barriers for energy and resource management (e.g. management structure, people motivation and availability, data availability and organization, etc.). It will cover the root cause analysis for existing barriers. It will be based on industrial end-user experience (or industrial research) as well as on relevant literature review.

Training modules for Total Efficiency Framework Implementation

Presents the definition of specific procedures to monitor each pilot case study relevant aspects, in order to assess and evaluate their overall efficiency. Also reports the implementation of both platform and management system in each pilot. Presents the specific training modules developed to guarantee the correct application of both procedures.

Reports the development results, development experiences, Lessons Learned (LL) in the development and integration work and other relevant knowledge gained during the iteration cycle.

This deliverable will report the: - Eco-efficiency and efficiency methodologies and tools analysis - Management systems and standards - Definition of the life cycle costing analysis approach - Definition of the Environmental assessment approach

MAESTRI platform usage scenarios

Presents scenarios that will be used during the elicitation of user requirements for the different domains and stakeholders involved. Inputs will come also from workshops regarding the main industrial topics “Efficiency Framework”, “Management System” and “Industrial Symbiosis“.

Presents the challenges and success factors for regional collaboration in waste exchange.

Total Efficiency Framework – Concept and components validation

Reports the validation of the project concept, including the platform, and its different modules, and management system. Also reported are the adjustments and modifications of training modules performed in accordance with feedback received from trainees from industrial partners.

Pro-active Standardization Strategy

Presents the Pro-active Strategy for both existing standards and for standardizing results of the MAESTRI project, which provides the guidelines for companies and design engineers with Drivers, in close relation with European Standardization System (ESS).

Management system framework for Continuous Improvement in process industries

It will report the work developed in Task 3.2 and 3.3 and will include: - Structure of Eco Lean Management boards definition together with supported review routines. Definitions of connections with Efficiency Framework. - Integration with strategy, management system and managers’ behaviours: methodology of integrating eco effectiveness issues with strategy and KPIs; method to establish daily improvement routines on different levels of organisation; Guidelines on how to expeditiously integrate the MAESTRI management systems and standards.

Roadmap to improve Eco-efficiency on European Process Industries

Includes the evaluation of EU frameworks (including SPIRE Roadmap) progress based on the achievements obtained during the project; improvement of eco-efficiency of EU Processing Technologies; definition uptake of traditional industries and thereby further the competitiveness of environmental industries; identification of regulatory barriers and market failures that hamper the competitiveness of environmental industries and their uptake by other sectors of the economy; promotion of eco-innovative and deployment of cleaner technologies along value chains for improving both the design of products and the efficiency of production processes, resulting in a decreasing environmental impact.

Reports the implementation of the improvement action plans in the 4 industrial pilots.
