Periodic Reporting for period 1 - DRIVING RIG (Driving simulator for disabled people with scientific assessment of driving skills and indication to of adaptation to be made to the vehicle)

Reporting period: 2015-07-01 to 2015-12-31

"Driving Rig aims at simplifying and facilitating access to mobility for people with disabilities, by allowing:

INFORMED PURCHASE
Driving Rig permits trial of any driving aid device before final modification of the vehicle, with potential savings worth several thousand Euros

REALISTIC DRIVING EXPERIENCE
Driving Rig simulation evaluates driving safety, based on regulatory, clinical and engineering data

A SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT
Driving Rig diagnosis will simplify procedures for obtaining a special driving license

With roughly 1 million of newly registered cars per year and an estimated rate of 4 to 5 percent disabled drivers in EU , Driving Rig aims at meeting the latent demand of the vast category of persons classified as ""differently abled""

"
In the first phase of the project we focused on three areas :
- Market analysis
- Development of the Evaluation Method on regulatory, clinical and engineering bases
- Technology design needed to run the Evaluation Method and development of a first advanced prototype

As a result It was possible to achieve:
- An in-depth market analysis with all direct and indirect stakeholders
- A sustainable scalable business model for the automotive suppliers industry
- A scientific evaluation model for safe driving
- A software and hardware feasibility study
- A statistic/predictive feasibility study
With Driving Rig the following impacts are expected:
