Objective
Currently, it is lining wear of the hearth that determines blast furnace life, due to a lack of effective repair techniques. The examination of hearths at the end of campaigns, together with mathematic modelling techniques, have demonstrated the influence of hot metal flow, the wear profile of the hearth, as well as the position of the bosh. This multi-partner project will increase knowledge of hearth parameters and their effect on the consumption of refractories.
