Objective

The aim of the research work it to adapt a near-liquidus casting technique which has been developed by CRM for use with slabs, to the casting of slabs destined for the manufacture of heavy plate. In order to achieve this objective, it has been proposed that a heat exchanger be designed which is capable of ensuring a 15C temperature drop for liquid steel flowing at a rate of some 100 tonnes/hour.
