TEMPERATURE CONTROL OVER THE CROSS-SECTION OF A ROLLED PRODUCT.

Objective

THE AIM OF THE PROJECT IS TO CONSTRUCT AND TEST A NEW TYPE OF UNIVERSAL PLANETARY ROLLING MILL FOR THE ROLLING OF BLOOMS IN ROD MILLS. PREVIOUS UNIVERSAL PLANETARY ROLLING MILLS HAVE CONSISTED OF HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL ROLLS. THIS ARRANGEMENT OFTEN LEADS TO EDGING DEFECTS. THE NEW UNIVERSAL PLANETARY MILL DEVELOPED BY IRSID IS NOVEL IN ITS USE OF GROOVED ROLLS TO AVOID EDGING DEFECTS. THE BLOOMS ARE FED DIAGONALLY INTO THE ROLLING STAND.

THE TOTAL COST OF THE PROJECT WAS ESTIMATED AT 220, 630,000 FLUX FOR A TOTAL DURATION OF 4 YEARS. HOWEVER, THE COMMISSION HAS PROPOSED TWO-STAGE FINANCING TO ENSURE THAT THE MONEY ALLOCATED IS NOT TIED UP FOR TOO LONG A PERIOD (FIRST STAGE: 76,543,850 FLUX; SECOND STAGE: THE REST).
