Objective
Increasing interest is being shown in the use of adhesive bonding as an alternative assembly technique to spot welding for the fabrication of sheet-metal structures in the automotive industry. Certain limitations in adhesive technology can be overcome by combining bonding with spot welding i.e. weld bonding. The aim of this research, therefore, is to study the influence of welding parameters, adhesive type and weld current programme on the properties of joints when weld bonding uncoated mild steel, hot dip zinc and electro-zinc coated steels.
