Objective

This project is aimed at developing a new method of measuring grain size as a function of the orientation of the grains and a sophisticated checking system. An X-ray diffractometer, suitably adapted, is suggested for use. This technique will be very useful as an experimental back-up for the general growth theory for normal and abnormal grains and as the final component in an integrated instrument for the inspection of steel structure.
