Objective The project aims to provide increased understanding of the microstuctural and engineering parameters which influence the loaded roll gap profile and the development of associated models. The acquired knowledge would be incorporated into microstructure evolution models and assist in the establishment of a ferric rolling strategy from reheating to finishing/cooling. Productivity aspects will be assessed and a more appropriate roughing strategy will be developed. Benefits will include improved set-up and stock geometrical tolerance leading to improved yield, flatness and property control, with reduced down stream processing.
