Improvement of blast furnace process control by combined on-line monitoring of liquid level in the hearth and tapping flow rates

Objective

Actual demands for stable blast furnace (BF) process and long furnace campaign life require a steady optimisation of cast house practice and tapping technology by means of improved instrumentation. The objective of this research is to develop and apply methods and model tools for combined on-line monitoring of BF hearth conditions, mainly the filling level, the hearth permeability and the tapping flow rates of liquid iron and slag. Direct on-line control and analysis of these parameters will lead to a further knowledge of the inner state of the hearth and will be used to improve BF process control and cast house practice by means of objective criteria provided to the operators.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
