Development of new control strategies for enhanced use of automatic flatness control in cold rolling

Objective

The objective of the project is the improvement of strip profile and shape performance during rolling operations. The work will attempt to optimise existing control strategies with investigations performed on various cold rolling processes. For each of these processes, all phenomena which tend to degrade strip flatness or which prevent an optimal use of flatness actuators will be identified. The rolling parameters influencing exit strip flatness will also be investigated using experimental results and mathematical physical modelling and suitable controllers. Finally, a comparison between the existing and the new control systems will be carried out.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
