Development of lightweight train and metro cars by using ultra high strength stainless steels

Objective

The transport industry is continually expanding. Lightweight vehicles are the driving force of new developments at the moment, as can be clearly seen within development of passenger cars. Less fuel consumption and beneficial effects on the environment are the main reasons for these developments. The proposed project will deliver, within the three years, knowledge in different fields of manufacturing like joining and bending. At the same time essential data, concerning mechanical and crash properties, corrosion behaviour and design rules, will be generated. These data are necessary to be able to use ultra high strength stainless steel for application in trains and metro cars and other transport vehicles.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
