Objective
It is intended in the project to provide a focused dissemination of up-to-date information on the advantages of steel to specifiers, architects, engineers and their clients in the multi-storey building, bridges and structural/civil engineering market sector. By this means, the consumption of steel in this market sector in Europe could be increased by up to 2.5 million tonnes a year, through the replacement of concrete and other competitive primary constructional materials. The work shall include the presentation of recent results on improved properties and fabrication techniques obtained for steels for this market sector from ECSC Steel Research and Pilot Plant and Demonstration contracts completed during the last five years, in an easy to use manner, in a selection of European languages. The project is also aimed at assisting in interpreting the requirements of Eurocodes 3 and 4 in relation to the most cost effective use of steel.
