Assessment of blast furnace coke quality

Objective

This joint-project tries to focus on two issues:

a) Coke quality consistency along the discontinuous process of cokemaking, in order to comply with a ISO 9000 TYPE QUALITY procedure. Together with a commonly accepted mechanical resistance test, the European coke and steel industries could enter the next century with a jointly defined quality test.

b) Adaptation of coke to blast furnaces. Which coke works the best in which blast furnace? Which coke characteristics control the blast furnace operation?

The proposals of PSAG and KG Saar includes blast furnace tests.

A progress in the definition and standardisation of the coke quality is expected from this project. This is of paramount importance for the coke industry.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal
