Modular laser based additive manufacturing platform for large scale industrial applications

Deliverables

Periodic report on dissemination actions towards (1) industrials, (2) scientific community with up-dated communication kit M18

Dissemination activity report

Report on contribution to standards for modular laser-based additive manufacturing

The platform for modular laser-based additive manufacturing of advanced products will open a huge range of new market opportunities. The definition of new standards will stimulate the market and facilitate innovation in the field of laser-based manufacturing. Therefore, (1) contribution to standards and (2) guidelines for implementation and use of the project results will be identified.

Report on new paradigms and ICT tools for AM integration with scenario for industrial implementation

The report will identify the most relevant design and manufacturing tools (incl. ICT ones)/methodologies required for full integration of AM, combined with MIM and post-processing operations into the Industry 4.0 concept.

Periodic report on dissemination actions towards (1) industrials, (2) scientific community with up-dated communication kit M36

Dissemination acitivity report

Workshop summary report of AM European project reviews with highlights on AM bottlenecks, success stories and list of candidates for the MAESTRO contest

The report will analyse the potential synergies between MAESTRO and a list of relevant AM-related R&D projects in order to create the maximum value for the European commission. A workshop will be organized in order to collect perspectives from other project coordinators. It will also be a preliminary step to the organization of the MAESTRO contest (M34).

Training modules for industrial engineers and technicians

Training modules for the training of industrial engineers and technicians will be established for an industrial transfer of new technologies as well as for maintaining the newly developed manufacturing methods and tools.

Workshop with MAESTRO contest

The workshop will aim at: - disseminating project results - animating working groups to evaluate the platform capabilities and specify its potential for future use after the end of the project: markets, business models of the platform, implementation of “daughter” factories, etc - demonstrating “live” the platform capabilities - organizing a contest on products to be manufactured through the platform: companies will be invited to propose 1 month before the workshop case studies for future products to be manufactured by the MAESTRO technologies. The proposals will be evaluated (vs. economical, technical and societal criteria) and ranked by the project partners. For each of the 3 best proposals, the fabrication process will be characterised with respect to industrialisation, i.e. throughput, throughput time, process parameter control, yield, cost. Free prototyping of the products will be proposed to the winner of the contest.

Creation of the External Expert Advisory Board

Relevant industrials and experts will be invited to take part in the External Expert Advisory Board

Training modules for scientists

From the version of the module for industrial engineers and technicians, a version to initiate modular laser-based additive manufacturing training for scientists will be prepared. The module will be organized in the framework of the new platform and will be seen as a preparation and organization test for the future objectives of the platform after the end of the project.
