Elimination of human error in the recognition of water accumulations and rockburst-prone zone in advance of mine workings

Objective

The purpose of the proposed research is to ensure that
- zones liable to outburst and
- water accumulations in active mines
can be recognized and objectively described in a manner suitable for practical use and to simplify the process of recognizing these types of hazard. To this end, systems are to be developed for the personal computers available at collieries in order to eliminate the possibility of human error or other failures.

The aim is to be achieved by means of the mine plans and a plan management system based on them using a general computerized information system.

The work will be based on regulations and existing guidelines from the Mines Inspectorate and on existing research findings. It is not proposed to carry out new specific research in the field of rockburst prevention.

The findings already available indicate a need for greater use of electronic data processing, especially by means of personal computers at the collieries themselves.

Once a completely exhaustive collection has been made of possible criteria for specific hazards, the use of a reliable computer system seems the only approach which is appropriate to the times and to the needs of safety. Current developments also indicate that in the near future suitable computers and software packages for computer-aided hazard recognition will be available at the collieries.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
