Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

Perytons aims at introducing to the smart home market a first smart home cyber security, visibility and monitoring system for professionals – smart home operators. The key objectives of the project are to scale-up the system to mass operations, validate its commercial viability, and to secure recognition and trust of smart home operators.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

Throughout the duration of the project, Perytons expanded its knowledge of the smart home market, including regulations, market size, market structure and competitors. Most of the time and effort were dedicated to the evaluation of different customers’ profiles and identification of target customers. In terms of technical feasibility, Perytons evaluated the technical capabilities of previous used commercial probe, and decided to design a new probe conforming to all the requirements of the minimum viable product.
Perytons also estimated the required investment to reach commercialization of the minimum-viable-product. The investment is required for the final SaaS optimization, development of the new probe design, Eye-O-T validation in the operational environment and brand creation.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

The Eye-O-T project addresses one of the biggest global challenges – an open, free and secure cyberspace. Eye-O-T will assist in detecting and alerting of cyber disruptions and attacks affecting Europe’s digital technologies, networks and services. Perytons’ system can provide a real-time visibility of the smart home network traffic and identify security breaches before cyber incidents even happen. Eye-O-T will bring to European citizens and businesses a more innovative, secure and user-friendly cyber security system that takes into account European rules and values, stated in EU International Cyberspace.
Eye-O-T will enable smart home providers to improve operational efficiency and find ways to innovate and improve customer experience, and to generate new revenue streams from existing customers.
