Development of a global, inclusive, digital health concierge

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - CONCILIO (Development of a global, inclusive, digital health concierge)

Reporting period: 2017-02-01 to 2017-07-31

When faced with illness, patients often ask themselves the same three questions: What is this disease? What are the best treatments? Who are the best physicians? Currently, despite the expansion of e-health services, patients do not have access to adequate resources or effective tools to respond to these stress-inducing questions. Usually, after doing some quick research on the Internet, which often leads them to be more confused and lost, they will consult a general practitioner who can either diagnose and treat them or only recognize certain symptoms and recommend a specialist. Yet published research indicates that in up to 45% of cases on average, even specialists either fail to achieve the correct diagnosis or apply best practice in their treatment recommendations1. Serious complications rates for common surgeries can vary up to 10-fold depending on the surgeon. Even in France, whose healthcare system was ranked 1st globally by the World Health Organisation in 2000, cancer mortality can vary by a factor of 4 or more depending on where a patient gets treatment.
Concilio aims to dramatically change this situation by giving everyone the possibility to easily access the best healthcare service, avoiding medical errors, reducing medical cost and significantly improving clinical outcomes. This first large scale “doctor-patient” matching service is a new disruptive healthcare and business model based on a unique, robust and objective methodology of peer- recommendations validated by proprietary algorithms and machine learning. The end result will be the ability to identify and reach medical professionals who are amongst the best in their field for virtually any condition, anywhere in the world. Thus our final goal is to become a trusted intermediary, worldwide, for all our users’ healthcare related needs.
Our website was fully overhauled and translated into English in order to make it easier to use and more user friendly.
We developed and launched an app which covers our health coaching and well-being services.
We undertook an in-depth analysis of the most promising European market in which to expand once we have successfully established ourselves in France.
We undertook a full IP review to ensure brand and database protection as well as evaluate patentability of our algorithms.
We achieved nearly all of the goals set out in the initial application and are now focused on the commercial success of our service platform in our initial market (France), before making a decision on which other European and non-European markets to address.
