Factory livestock facilities pollute the air and release over 400 separate gases, some of which are among the leading causes of acid rain. The volume of manure usually found in lagoons and storage systems exceeds what can safely be absorbed by the farms soil. The subsequent very high concentrations of nutrients, can cause a range of ecological problems when released into the environment and can affect human health when leached into drinking water.
The European Union is set to achieve a reduction of 20% of greenhouse gas emission levels, an increase in the share of renewable resources for EU energy consumption to 20% and an improvement of the energy efficiency of 20% by 2020 . In the EU-28 464.3 million tons of CO2 equivalent have been produced by agricultural activities making up 10% of the total greenhouse gas emissions.
With the KUDURA system the EU objectives are tackled by reducing the waste, using sustainable renewable energies and by reducing greenhouse gas emission levels while providing farmers with an all-in-one solution for water reuse and renewable energy independence.
After a short introduction of the general idea of this project and a presentation of our company, our vision and products we carried out various analyses concerning a technical development assessment in which eight work packages were proposed and a total budget of 1,535,603 € was calculated. A deep IPR analysis was realized and no conflict with exiting solutions was found.
We carried out a deep market study, including analyses about the global market size and the european rural dairy and pig markets’ status quo. We analysed the main distribution channels (agricultural clusters, conferences and trade-shows) and the market stakeholders. We performed a search for possible partners and/or competitors.
By the end of this project we will be ready to produce and commercialise this innovative solution. Sales shall start in 2020 with 5 and we will double them each year. After developing the business plan, we conclude that 17 new direct European jobs will be created and we will achieve a revenue in 28.2 million € and 8.1 million € in profit by 2024. The ROI for this solution or product line is estimated at 30 - 35%.
