Develop a coherent visual identity for all partners and Horizon2020. This will include a project logo, a graphic chart, templates, styles and guidelines, which will be used by the partners when presenting their work in electronic and print material. Relevant parts of the plans will be included in the consortium agreement to ensure commitment from all partners.
Scientific publications in peer reviewed journals, presentation at relevant conference and trade shows and popularized publications and presentations is a core part of disseminating the results of the work. Quantitative targets for publications and presentations have been stated. This will be monitored on a regular basis to ensure that the goals can be met. In order to ensure adaption of the HydroFlex results, collaborative publications with important stakeholders such as regulators, TSO’s and grid planning specialists will be sought. Through our large network, contacts with trade publications and specialized journals will be utilized to communicate the results to a widest possible audience.

HydroFlex will arrange a series of thematic Workshop/Training Seminars open to the public. Stakeholders from the hydropower industry and academia will be invited, and the potential to cooperate with other similar EU funded projects will be sought. Through our network, contacts with relevant business press and freelance journalists working in the energy field will be invited to cover the events. • Workshop/Training Seminar with a focus on the technical flexibility of hydropower plants. It will be organized by Uppsala University tentatively end of 2019 and will be targeted to potential users while open to R&D community (50-100 participants).
The main objective of this task is to conduct power system integration studies to establish control strategies and procedures that give hydropower plant with the proposed generator&converter technology robust Fault Ride Through capability and the ability to provide balancing and ancillary services to transmission system operators. A smart controller will be developed to enable conventional and converter-connected hydropower plants to provide the full range of AS including those with fast time-scales, such as synthetic inertia and dynamic voltage control, and those with slow time-scales, such as balance regulation and power gradient constraint.
Three global – in a European scope – scenarios are defined with respect to different generation- and transmission-situations in the power system. Due to the importance of the scenarios for the subsequent work the entire consortium is involved incorporating the input of each partner. For this purpose, relevant parameters (e.g. percentage and profile of volatile producers, type and amount of installed storage, connection of Nordic grid to central European grid etc.) are identified first. Secondly, a meta-analysis of existing national and international scenario studies will be performed in order to get an overview within the European scope. Part of these scenarios will also be an estimate on how market prices for flexible operation and, thus, remuneration will evolve so that the financial revenue of highly dynamic hydropower plants can afterwards be evaluated in WP5.
