Sulfur-Aluminium Battery with Advanced Polymeric Gel Electrolytes


Dissemination, exploitation and communication activities

All partners will actively participate in the project communication activities, in a one-way and two-way exchange, with targeted audiences going beyond the project’s own community. All partners will be involved in knowledge transfer, in order to reach the largest possible audience. Presentation of the project is foreseen in outreach activities, both at European and local level (Open days for school visits, Fairs, European Researchers’ Night, etc.). Acknowledgement of EU funding will be included in every project communication. At the end of the project life (M42) a report gathering all the dissemination activities will be released.

Stability window and viscosity of electrolytes

Report on the computational screening of the ionic liquids with sufficient stability window and Al3 ion mobility viscosity to allow an operational AlS battery

List of possible Al alloys and inorganic electrolyte additives to prevent dendritic formation in the anode

Report on two different strategies to prevent the formation of dendrites in aluminum anodes by blocking the kink sites in aluminum surfaces namelyi Computational modeling of formation of near surface alloys NSA of Al with different elementsii Computational search of inorganic additives for the electrolyte that are prompt to block the kink sites

Half-cell performance with pulse interrupt current charging

The effect of pulse-interrupt current on Al deposition and the resulting morphology in the battery half-cell will be reported for a range of pulse waveforms.

Communication strategy

At the beginning of the project a consortiumwide communication strategy will be created D12 M6 being periodically updated along the project life

Electronic transport in the cathode material.

Report on the modeling of the electronic transport in sulfur and aluminum polysulfides based on standard DFT calculations and constrain DFT cDFT calculations The report will include stimates for the electronic conductivity of the materials

Reaction pathways and overpotential in the cathode

Report on the computation modelling of the formation of aluminum polysulfides during the charge and discharge of the battery identifying the reaction pathways and the corresponding overpotentials

Launch of SALBAGE website, branding and logo

The project will setup and maintain a dedicated website D11 M2 acting as central information channel for the wider public and the projects participants The site will include a passwordprotected area for the partners and EC to obtain all necessary project data reporting templates etc

Special course on Novelty battery systems

Three dissemination events will be organized along the project In this sense DDTU will set up special lectures focused on novel battery systems including sulfurbased cathode batteries during the Joint European Sommer School on Fuel Cell Electrolyzed and Battery technologies to be hold in Athens in September 2019

Seminar on Technology Transfer

The University of Leicester will offer a seminar, as part of a project-day workshops, on the transfer of technology developed in the project from the academic environment into the industrial/commercial forum. This will be delivered by a team of specialists in technology transfer, staff from the University, as part of the Research and Enterprise Division (RED). The seminar will be made available to energy related companies, in addition to the consortium, across Europe and will be publicised through the network of contacts and academic partners already in existence in the UK based Energy Research Accelerator (ERA).

Data management plan

A research data management plan will be defined and periodically updated to ensure the control of SALBAGE data management policy IPR management will be defined in the consortium agreement
