Scale-up event n°6

The events represent the core of the project in terms of impact for the start-up hubs and their members. Each two-day long event will be composed of 4 main parts relying upon and contributing to extend the impacts of the different work-packages of the project : coaching the start-up for the fundraising pitch, the fundraising pitch event, a matchmaking event/business meeting to enhance market access and an open innovation workshop to facilitate the creation of collaboration projects. The sixth and last event will be organized by Photonics BW.

Project identity/brand and communication tools

In order to make the project visible and increase its impact, we will create an identity and develop the associated communication tools. A Corporate Identity (CI) of the project will be developed based on inputs provided by the members of the consortium. The CI will include the “brand” of the project, its logo, the global layout for the website, the project’s newsletters, the support documents (presentations, flyers, brochures …). These tools will be used in all internal and external communications, presentations and documents. The task leader will be in charge of the design of the communication and marketing tools.

2nd newsletter

A newsletter will be created to present the project, the events organized by the consortium, the collaboration opportunities and the results obtained within its scope. The second newsletter will be published before the end of the first year and will give an overview of the events, the participants and present the results obtained.

Methodology for the horizontal and vertical analysis of the value chain

This deliverable consists of putting in place/adopting a relevant methodology to analyze the value chain, taking into account the characteristics of the players targeted in the project, their development strategies, the diversity of technological bricks in the emerging field of “Internet of Things” and the specificities of the 4 applicative domains in the scope of the project. It will be necessary to identify the specific distinctions of the different themes chosen by each hub while keeping a common framework for the analysis. The analysis will be two-fold: it will integrate both horizontal and vertical components, taking into account key elements of the value chain and the activity sectors. Furthermore, task leaders will pay particular attention to integrate elements allowing to analyze the specific characteristics of the value chain in each country. The methodology will have to put forward in an efficient way alliance and business opportunities according to the know-how and the solutions of the start-ups associated to the targeted ecosystems, but also, if necessary, in the larger European start-up ecosystem.

3rd newsletter

A newsletter will be created to present the project, the events organized by the consortium, the collaboration opportunities and the results obtained within its scope. The third newsletter will be published at the beginning of the second year and will present the results and the forthcoming events.

Key results and success stories promotional brochure

The results obtained during the initial phase of the project will be used to produce a brochure capturing key results of the project. This deliverable, serving as a basis to initiate the contact with new stakeholders, will summarize the information gathered during the meetings with the members of the ecosystems and the events, mainly : - the highlights of the events and the conferences reports, - the markets and the corporate players’ needs, - the success stories of the start-up participating to the fundraising event who got financed thanks to the project, - the key trends and the current issues for the applicative domains targeted by the project, - the results of the open innovation workshops, the collaboration and funding opportunities, - the next planned events and the expectations.

Project website and social media

A project website will be developped and centralize all relevant information related to the project ; it will serve as a communication tool not only for the stakeholders, but also with all the members of the ecosystems involved in the project. It will be operational at the end of the third month of the project. The website will be centered on the developed identity, will present the progress of the project and will also contain relevant information for the target groups. The website will also provide links to the events and activities planned during the project and all the initiatives and projects within the European start-up ecosystem relevant for the stakeholders. It will integrate the presentation of the project, its funding scheme and the consortium members, including contact details, the agenda of the events organized by the consortium and also relevant events taking place in the different ecosystems, the start-ups portfolio, the collaboration proposals and the finance opportunities. All the members of the consortium will contribute to update the website for each events organized in the different countries.

On-line recruitment platform

Following the creation of a list of platforms, the consortium will identify the best opportunity to put in place a unified platform, exploiting existing tools and articulating with current initiatives to reach the European level.

A newsletter will be created to present the project, the events organized by the consortium, the collaboration opportunities and the results obtained within its scope. The first newsletter will be published after the first event and present the return of experience and the preliminary results.

4th newsletter

A newsletter will be created to present the project, the events organized by the consortium, the collaboration opportunities and the results obtained within its scope. The forth and last newsletter will be published before the end of the project and will give an overview of the project, its results and perspectives.

High potential start-up on-line portfolio

The analysis based on the commonly defined criteria according to the project’s objectives will allow each partner to construct and share with the consortium a “potential scale-ups to unicorns” portfolio, and generally speaking a high-potential start-up repository, which will reinforce the European high-tech start-ups ecosystem knowledge. This repository, will be published and available for all the European hubs.

Public repository with business opportunities

The consortium members will collected information from the regional corporate players and use it to create a repository with business opportunities ; this repository will be made public to European start-up hubs and employed to involve the start-up in the matchmaking “Speed Dating to Market” sessions.

Private funding best practices guideline

The information gathered during the interactions with the members of the private investors board establhised by the consortium will be used to create a “best practice guide” concerning the analysis criteria and the key success factors of a winning strategy.

Interview and strategy review workshop supports

Supports will be developped to serve as a guideline for interview with the start-up’s management team and also to further analyze their development strategy, identify relevant opportunities, and define and implement an action plan within the scope of the project, helping them to scale-up.

Summary of 1st open innovation and project emergence workshop

Within the scope of the first event, an open innovation workshop will be organized to allow the emergence of project ideas from the the members of the start-up ecosystems, the corporate players and generally speaking the stakeholders of the considered applicative domain. A summary of the workshop will be created, focusing on presenting the possibilities to transform the emerging ideas into collaborative projects and the opportunities for European start-up.

Start-up profiling analysis grid

The consortium will create a common analysis grid that will be used in subsequent actions to identify the start-ups having high growth potential, but also the most relevant actions to help them connect with strategic partners in the value chain, access emerging markets and attract investments

Summary of 4th open innovation and project emergence workshop

Within the scope of the fourth event, an open innovation workshop will be organized to allow the emergence of project ideas from the the members of the start-up ecosystems, the corporate players and generally speaking the stakeholders of the considered applicative domain. A summary of the workshop will be created, focusing on presenting the possibilities to transform the emerging ideas into collaborative projects and the opportunities for European start-up.

Listing of corporate players open innovation initiatives description

The consortium will analyze the open innovation programs put in place by the corporate players associated to the 4 applicative domains at each regional level and establish a list that will be made publicly available.

Agenda of the events and activities

An agenda of the events organized within the scope of the project, taking into account other events at the regional level allowing the consortium gain leverage and the participants to capitalize on their travel costs will be created and publicly shared.

Summary of the actions undertaken to disseminate the project’s results the 1st year

A report will be established at the end of the first year to present a summary of the actions undertaken to disseminate the project’s results.

Dissemination strategy and plan

The dissemination of the project’s results will rely on a dissemination plan defining the strategy, the actions and the tools necessary to reach a broad audience, allowing to involve key stakeholders of the European start-up ecosystem and to gain leverage by linking the project with other initiatives, projects and high-tech start-up communities. The plan will include the information to be distributed according to the targeted audience, the frequency, the geographical region, the tools … A presentation of the project and the consortium’s members, their role and resources as well as a calendar, progressively updated, with the main events will be prepared and integrated in the dissemination tool kit.

Best practices guide (scale start-up, fundraising, open innovation)

The information and data accumulated during the project by the partners will be compiled in a best practices guide for scaling start-up. The guide will include the methods followed by the members of the consortium, the validation procedures, and their (measurable and potential) impact, the feedback from the interactions with the members of the start-up hubs, the best practices in terms of scale-up procedures, fundraising and open innovation, potentially interesting to other start-up ecosystems.

List of existing EU recruitment platforms and their capabilities

The consortium members will perform a thorough analysis of the existing tools/platforms in the partner hubs and generally speaking in the European start-up hubs ecosystem. Each hub will share with the other members a list of the national platforms and the methodologies, the recruitment tools and the best practices.

Health and Well Being European value chain analysis and workshop report

"Using the methodology presented in the previous deliverable, i2CAT will analyze, with the support of the members of the consortium, the value chain for the ""Health and Well Being"" domain. We will focus on the complementarity of the skills and technologies of the start-up from the portfolio of the partner hubs. This task will provide strategic, high value, information for business intelligence since it will allow to identify or develop solutions and seize emerging market opportunities in the field of ""Health and Well Being"" in a structured way."

Summary of 2nd open innovation and project emergence workshop

Within the scope of the second event, an open innovation workshop will be organized to allow the emergence of project ideas from the the members of the start-up ecosystems, the corporate players and generally speaking the stakeholders of the considered applicative domain. A summary of the workshop will be created, focusing on presenting the possibilities to transform the emerging ideas into collaborative projects and the opportunities for European start-up.

Analysis/benchmark of start-up alliance establishment initiatives

The consortium will benchmark existing initiatives to create alliances between tech start-up and SMEs for offering new, innovative solutions and deliver a report about these initiatives. In order to gain the most leverage, the consortium will analyze and put forward key success factors for developing efficient solutions and potentially articulate, through the local European hubs, the actions within the scope of the project with these initiatives.

Industry of the Future European value chain analysis report

We will focus on the complementarity of the skills and technologies of the start-up from the portfolio of the partner hubs. Public funding opportunities listing

The members of the consortium will analyze public funding opportunities at the regional, national and the European level related to the topics emerging from the open innovation workshops and keep an updated list on the project’s website available to the start-up ecosystems.

Smart Mobility European value chain analysis and workshop report

A report will be established at the end of the second year to present a summary of the overall actions undertaken during the 2 years to disseminate the project’s results.

Benchmarking of European private investors networks

A complete benchmarking of different financial networks at the European level will be established by the members of the consortium. We will analyze and share information about a large panel of key investors in each country, by using different resources such as the existing maps established within the scope of European projects like the “startupeuropeclub”.

Private investors repertory

Following the benchmarking of the private investors European ecosystem, a public repertory will be established by the members of the consortium.

6th Newsletter

Newsletter With the report of the closing date Deep Tech 4 Good has made an agreement with Start-up Europe Summit in Stuttgart. We will communicate prior, after and again prior and after Hello Tomorrow. Since nothing is sure yet regarding July, we engage only in one Newsletter.
