LEAP home, a new home for a sustainable future. A functional and aesthetic answer to a liberated living.

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - LEAP home (LEAP home, a new home for a sustainable future. A functional and aesthetic answer to a liberated living.)

Reporting period: 2017-08-01 to 2018-01-31

The construction industry is one of the highest environmental impact sectors because of its high consumption of land and energy, the resulting air pollution and widespread use of petrochemical-based materials. It is therefore important to find new construction solutions that enable greater energy and environmental sustainability, while, at the same time, increasing comfort.

The aim of our project is to fully meet the new demands for energy sustainability and reduced environmental impact throughout a building's entire lifecycle as well as the emerging trends for a lifestyle more deeply steeped in nature. This will be achieved by supplying truly high-performance buildings made of low environmental-impact materials from certified production chains. The offer will consist of individual, customizable, pre-wired and furnished homes, that even including auxiliary internal outfitting.
In collaboration with Politecnico of Turin, an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) has been carried out on the LEAPhome house.
This methodology is built on the “life cycle” approach, i.e. an approach that raises awareness of the environmental damage or potential harm to derive from what occurs during each phase in the life cycle of a component or building: production, transport, use, recycling, reuse or disposal.
The result of the Life Cycle Assessment was very positive: in fact, on the whole for five of the six indicators selected the LEAPhome house has a lower ecological footprint compared with a BAU (Business As Usual) building.

I.P. management was devoted to provide answers to the requests of additional information raised by the Italian Patent Office about the three Italian patents filed and to extend at international level an already existing Italian patent.

The business planning has allowed to define with precision all the economic elements involved in the project and the investments needed; the projections in terms of revenues and net-profit obtained are highly positive.
Our innovation will help create a more environmentally-friendly world: the use of natural materials will increase recyclability; making adhesives and mortars unnecessary and limiting need for foundations will reduce the environmental pollution and, finally, the high energy efficiency will also dramatically reduce the need for heating and cooling our housing solutions.
