Deliverables
ESRs will regularly produce collections of written material that document work and present an initial research narrative which will later be refined and integrated into research papers and thesis chapters These will be pitched towards a general audience including public industry and policyThe Design Research Workbooks will document ESRs progress across the second year of their PhD including their design iterations field trials and initial findings
Research Skills WorkbookESRs will regularly produce collections of written material that document work and present an initial research narrative which will later be refined and integrated into research papers and thesis chapters These will be pitched towards a general audience including public industry and policyThe Research Skills Workbook will draw together ESRs insights from WP1 and 4 in which ESRs will develop an understanding of how design research methods including visual design research and ethnography can be used in relation to IoT
Reflective Reports on Policy ImpicationsThis deliverable related to T31 in which ESRs critique their prototypes from WP2 from a policy and legal perspective focusing on the issues they raise in relation to current and upcoming policy
Policy WorkbookESRs will regularly produce collections of written material that document work and present an initial research narrative which will later be refined and integrated into research papers and thesis chapters These will be pitched towards a general audience including public industry and policyThe Policy Workbook will draw together ESRs insights from WP3 which develops an indepth understanding of how policy interacts with each ESRs area the abilities and limitations of current policy as they relate to this area and to develop skills needed to communicate current policy to different audiences and advocate for policy change
Open Access Scientific PublicationsAll publications relating to the project will be open access and will be made available through UNNs research portal and through the publisher where possible At the end of the project these publications will be collated into a deliverable
Finale Conference ProceedingsThe finale conference will be curated by the ESRs and Supervisory Board with an open submission process for speakers from academia industry and policy This deliverable will collate and openly archive abstracts for the talks
ESR ThesesUpon the award of a PhD an electronic version of each ESRs thesis will be archived publicly on UNNs Research Portal as per standard procedure at the university These will be linked from the project website and collated and submitted as a deliverable
Design Research WorkbooksESRs will regularly produce collections of written material that document work and present an initial research narrative which will later be refined and integrated into research papers and thesis chapters These will be pitched towards a general audience including public industry and policyThe Design Research Workbooks will document ESRs progress across the first year of their PhD including their initial fieldwork and insights codesign process and experience prototypes
Internet Health Workbook 1ESRs will regularly produce collections of written material that document work and present an initial research narrative which will later be refined and integrated into research papers and thesis chapters These will be pitched towards a general audience including public industry and policyThe Internet Health Workbooks will draw together ESRs insights from WP5 which focuses on the approaches that MOZILLA are using to measure and take action on the health of the internet ecosystem This includes Open Innovation and Leadership Privacy Security and Trust and Digital Inclusion and Digital Literacy
Archive of Dissemination MaterialsThe project will disseminate findings to a range of nonacademic audiences through both online and print materials particularly through ESRs web presence This deliverable will collate all nonacademic materials excluding workbooks which are treated as deliverables in their own right
This deliverable is an output of T1.3, which involves creating of a series of prototypes that capture key aspects of the IoT experience, but which do not necessarily prototype entire technical eco-systems. Documentation will tale the form of source code, files for digital fabrication, videos, Instructables, etc., as appropriate for the experience prototype developed.
Co-Designed IoT Concepts 2This deliverable will be an output from T2.2, in which ESRs will continue to co-design concepts from WP1 based on an increasing understanding of the social and technical space. The deliverable will comprise a series of design concepts, co-designed with audiences, illustrated through notes, sketches, videos and low fidelity prototypes.
Co-Deisgned IoT Concepts 1This deliverable will be an output from T12 in which ESRs will seek to understand how IoT might play different roles in their lives by exploring possible opportunities and challenges The deliverable will comprise a series of design concepts codesigned with audiences illustrated through notes sketches videos and low fidelity prototypes
Co-Designed IoT Concepts 3This deliverable will be an output from T3.2, in which ESRs will continue to co-design concepts from WP1/2, this time with an increasing focus on policy and legal compliance. The deliverable will comprise a series of design concepts, co-designed with audiences, illustrated through notes, sketches, videos and low fidelity prototypes.
Documentation of PrototypesThis deliverable is an output of T2.3, in which ESRs develop refined prototypes suitable for public deployment. Documentation will tale the form of source code, files for digital fabrication, videos, Instructables, etc., as appropriate for the prototype developed.
Technology DemonstratorsThis deliverable will be an output of T21 in which ESRs work with OFFINN to develop a deeper understanding of specific open prototyping technology that is applicable to their chosen domain eg IoTcapable Arduinos Mozilla Voice Raspberry PiDocumentation will tale the form of source code files for digital fabrication videos Instructables etc as appropriate
This deliverable is an output of T2.4, which involves the deployment of refined prototypes into real world contexts. The dataset will largely comprise ethnographic fieldnotes, interviews, etc.
Current IoT Practices DatasetThis dataset is the output from T11 in which ESRs work with participants to gather insights into their lives and the opportunities afforded for the IoT focusing on observing current practices and technologies in action The dataset will largely comprise ethnographic fieldnotes interviews etc
An initial project website will be launched during the first month of the project. In its initial state, this will comprise a description of the project and information for prospective ESR candidates on how to enquire about applications. Subsequently, the website will be the main recruitment hub, hosting advertisements for the five ESR positions. As the project progresses, it will host blog posts from ESRs and all public deliverables.
