Periodic Reporting for period 1 - UAVEndure I (UAVEndure)

Reporting period: 2018-04-01 to 2018-09-30

Small, long endurance electric Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAVs) is the key technology missing in the emerging market for airborne border surveillance and perimeter control, environmental monitoring and scientific missions etc. Currently, such missions are conducted by manned airplanes, helicopters or large gasoline propelled UAVs, all of which imply high acquisition and maintenance costs, and require take-off and landing infrastructure.

Effective utilization of autonomous systems in dull, dangerous or dirty jobs is key to ensure sustainable societal growth. This project will facilitate that civilian and government users can get more data cheaper and more frequent than it is possible today. This will enable better decision while saving time and money compared to the existing solutions.
Through the project knowledge about the market, technology, IPR and business model have been collected and analyzed. These tasks have been taking place both within the consortia as well as at external partners. The joint work has resulted in a significantly improve foundation for decision that have help secure commitment and interest from internal as well as external stakeholders.
- Tangible total addressable market
- Identification of relevant IPR
- Analysis of production setup
- Analysis of technical requirements
- LOS from potential customer
As the scope of the technology represents a potentially fundamental change in how small electrical UAVs are powered the project is pushing state-of-the-art. A successful market entry would potentially not only disrupt the OEM market but once disseminated it could create a pull effect from the end-users to adopt the new technology. The technology will help create new jobs in EU and secure that a critical part of the UAV supply chain, which today is dominated by China and US, can remain in EU thereby strengthening the industry as a whole and create a foundation for export, thereby generating jobs.
