Project description
A sustainable solution for the lift industry
There are several different types of lift systems currently available, for example hydraulic, geared and gearless. Gearless systems are the most advanced and boast the most advantages such as high travel speeds and efficient use of energy. However, gearless machines are based on the use of neodymium permanent magnets; neodymium is a critical material in high demand and with high risk for supply disruptions. To address this issue, the EU-funded SRM project is developing a novel alternative system with similar outputs in speed, comfort and efficiency. The innovation involves a synchronous reluctance electric motor as a traction unit, adhering to the requirements and needs of the lift industry.
