"A software platform used by electronic-chip designers to add ""Functional Safety"" to their chips to meet the highest safety requirements of the Automotive Functional Safety standard ISO-26262, ASIL-D"

Periodic Reporting for period 2 - SafeCHIP2 (A software platform used by electronic-chip designers to add "Functional Safety" to their chips to meet the highest safety requirements of the Automotive Functional Safety standard ISO-26262, ASIL-D)

Reporting period: 2020-01-01 to 2021-06-30

- What is the problem/issue being addressed?
Autonomous-Driving (AD) is a tremendous challenge and opportunity for the Automotive Industry in the EU and World-Wide, specifically, Functional Safety (FuSa).
The pain in this industry is the unavailability of adequate EDA/CAD solutions for chip designers or vendors to assist them in creating chips that meet the high requirements of ASIL-D, especially on big and complex chips.
- Why is it important for society?
By creating a Fault Safe solution for Autonomous-Driving (AD), Optima can indirectly provide a solution to several societal problems, such as (1) increase the safety of all persons on the road, (2) reducing accidents and traffic jams (3) reducing pollutions in cities, (4) giving freedom of automobile movement to persons who otherwise are unable to drive today (5) reduce the number of crowded parking areas in cities and opening the path to converting them to green parks for the communities.
- What are the overall objectives?
Optima solves a major challenge that the Autonomous-Driving (AD) industry is struggling with, which is Functional Safety. Optima allows the faster creation of high safety and reliability electronic chips for AD. These electronic chips are at the base of any AD system. By this, Optima allows the creation and deployment of AD systems with all the benefits of AD
In R&D, we have hired additional engineers for boosting R&D activities, established a strong Software Development Process (SDP), completed revamping the compute infrastructure, delivered all deliverables, and identified new features as well as introduced a new product: Optima-SA for ISO 26262 fault analysis. Completed the development of the SBIST product, which we have changed our marketing name for it to Optima Safety Platform™ (OSP™). Certified our product platform to ISO 26262 Safety standard, as well as 4 of our employees are certified also. Completed our first sale to BLR Labs – India, and currently have multiple engagements with different leads. (ST Micro, Thales, SatixFy, and Huawei)
In Marketing and Sales, we created a complete and professional marketing infrastructure base that allowed for continued lead generation and branding activities moving forward, Created a full company branding including logo and necessary color/textural schemes, created a new complete website which has a new Customer Relation Management (CRM) database and infrastructure tied to it, created a complete sales kit, had a company launce complete with pre-conference PR activities, attended three international conferences, hosted the Functional Safety (FuSa) Forum in our Nazareth office and currently working on seven potential customers. In addition, we have strengthened our partnership with Medini-Ansys (Germany) by jointly developed an API for our two software tools to exchange information between Optima and Ansys. We joined a new standard working group under Accellera to write a new standard for “Interoperable Data Exchange between Safety EDA Tools.
At a local level, we have increased the number of available jobs in the high-tech sector for Arabs living in the Northern Galilee, we are committed to employing young engineers both women and men from the Arab community in Israel, we implemented a mother support-flexibility positions, introduced new innovation and making a positive long term impact on the local economies of the Arab community
At a National Level, we hope in five years to be selling our product widely and are forecasting an increase in jobs by 50%, encourage other Arab leaders to diverge and venture in the field of high tech start-ups and strive to employ more employees, thus securing improve the economic situation in the Arab community in Israel, as high-tech jobs are higher pay than the average jobs.
At a Regional Level, we plan to establish a Palestinian Territories Subsidiary that will have employment opportunities in a weak economy for high-tech graduates, and help in the growth in the high-tech sector in that market.
With a Social and Cultural impact, Optima solves a major challenge that the Autonomous Driving (AD) industry, which is Functional Safety. Optima allows the creation and deployment of AD systems with all the benefits of AD: Increase the safety of all persons on the road, reducing accidents and traffic jams, reducing pollutions in cities, and giving freedom of automobile movement to persons who otherwise are unable to drive today, reduce the number of crowded parking areas in cities and opening the path to converting them to green parks for the communities
