5G HEalth AquacultuRe and Transport validation trials

Periodic Reporting for period 2 - 5G-HEART (5G HEalth AquacultuRe and Transport validation trials)

Reporting period: 2021-03-01 to 2022-11-30

5G-HEART project focuses on realising 5G trials and validating 5G KPIs on the vital vertical use-cases of healthcare, transport and aquaculture. In the health area, 5G-HEART validates pillcams for automatic detection in screening of colon cancer and vital-sign patches with advanced geo-localization as well as 5G AR/VR paramedic services. In the transport area, 5G-HEART validates autonomous/assisted/remote driving and vehicle data services. In the aquaculture area, 5G-HEART validates 5G-based fish farm monitoring systems. The infrastructure shared by the verticals, will host important innovations: network slicing as a service; resource orchestration in access/core and cloud/edge segments with live user environments. Novel applications and devices (e.g. underwater drones, car components, healthcare devices) are devised. Trials run on sites of 5G-Vinni (Oslo), 5Genesis (Surrey), 5G-EVE (Athens), as well as 5GTN (Oulu) and 5Groningen (Groningen), which are integrated to form a powerful and sustainable platform where slice concurrency will be validated at scale.

The overall objective of the 5G-HEART is to define and validate the cost efficient 5G converged network concepts, which enable an intelligent hub supported by multiple vertical industries.
During this period from M1 to M21, 17 deliverables (including D1.2 Project report) have been submitted and they are listed in reference section. The 5G-HEART results were disseminated in the multiple channels including 14 conference and workshop papers, 3 journal papers, 2 patents, 4 newsletters, 6 invited papers, 1 EuCNC best paper award, 10 workshops and webinars, 2 public demonstration, 2506 user visiting of project website and social media including 104 Linkedin connection and 261 followings and 190 followers of Twitter. In the vertical WP (Healthcare, transport and aquaculture), key use cases have been on-boarded. The initial results from each vertical WP are available for demonstration.
5G-HEART will fully deliver the impacts expected by the call ICT-19-2019: Advanced 5G validation trials across multiple vertical industries. The call text explicitly states 6 areas in which the project expects to make impact. Below is how 5G-HEART is addressing these.
