This document will report the methodology and results of the analysis carried out to asses immune condition and inflammatory response of fish and shrimp fed with halophyte supplemented diets.

First batch of Practice Abstracts

"The resulting innovative knowledge and easy accessible end-user material from this project will feed into the EIP-AGRI (The agricultural European Innovation Partnership) website for broad dissemination. The end-user material to be produced contains a substantial number of summaries for practitioners in the EIP common format (""practice abstracts""), including the characteristics of the project (e.g. contact details of partners, etc). A full package of practice abstracts will be produced by the project, containing all the outcomes/recommendations which are ready for practice.A practice abstract is a short summary of around 1000-1500 characters (word count – no spaces; see below) which describes the main information/recommendation/practice that can serve the end-users in their daily practice. Guidance and templates for these practice abstracts are available on the EIP-AGRI web site: http://ec.europa.eu/eip/agriculture/en/content/eip-agri-common-format . A number of practice abstracts is foreseen for the project. Estimated 25 Practice Abstracts are expected to be delivered in the first batch."

This document will report the methodology and results of the codigestion experiments on the residual fiber and juice residues The optimal ratio of the two fractions and loading of the codigestion process will be determined in batch tests Then the optimized codigestion process will be tested in semicontinuous labscale reactors optimal operation conditions like organic loading rate and hydraulic retention time of the biogas reactor will be reported

This document will report the methodology and results of the lignin conversion to carbonized material by pyrolysis process The most promising preparation will be selected on the basis of resource efficiency adaptability to industrial manufacturing and expected retail price of the final product

Verification protocol for EU ETV, EU ETV Verification report

This document will describe the protocol and result of ETV Verification. The ETV Verification is performed to document the effectiveness of the Alpha Line system. The ETV verification is done to verify the high CO2 removal efficiency of the Alpha Line Gas Balance Filter, the high nitrogen waste (ammonia) removal efficiency of the Alpha Line Biofilter Units, and the water flow capacity between 950 -1000 m3/h.

Handbook for lessons and best practices in implementing halophyte fractions and compounds in cosmetic, food, and feed products

This document will be a handbook on for lessons and best practices in implementing halophyte fractions and compounds in cosmetic, food, and feed products. AQUA-COMBINE will assess the procedures and requirements for the application of the developed halophyte extracts and compounds as a food ingredient according to EC regulation No. 234/2011 or any novel food regulation. To ensure future marketability of the new feed/food ingredient, desk research and close collaboration with consumer panels will clarify consumer perception with regard to adding the compounds in cosmetics and foods. Communication to the public presenting lessons and best practices learnt during the project in terms of halophyte products effect and bioactivity will be developed and given to the public, effect targeting the long-term contribution of AQUA-COMBINE to the formation of common EU policies on cosmetics, feed and food processing.

Report on the most optimal configuration for lipid and protein extraction with proposed a scale-up scheme.

This document will report the computer aided process engineering tools used to support the extraction of lipids and protein from the green juice in solvent selection and solvent recovery Beside technical feasibility sustainability aspects as well as economic aspects will be reported in close collaboration with WP10

Roadmap for exploitation

This document will describe the road map for exploitation. The road map will be an updated strategy for exploitation of the results generated in the project. It will contain a market assessment for the feedstocks and products of the AQUA-COMBINE concept and business plans for the industries involved (in connection to WP10). An important element will also be an assessment of risks in relation to business processes or particular business cases and development of potential risk mitigation plans.

Evaluation of the anti-genotoxic properties, alterations on DNA-damage repair system, and of enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant responses

This document will describe the methodology and results of the evaluation of DNA integrity, DNA-damage repair and anti-oxidant defences of fish and shrimp fed with halophyte-supplemented diets.

Fish and shrimp growth performance, feed utilisation and digestibility of nutrients

This document will report the methodology and results of the Zootechnical trials. To evaluate the effects of halophytes containing diets in seabass and shrimp zootechnical performance will be performed and reported. This will include growth and digestibility results.

Final Life Cycle Assessment

This document will report the methodology and results of the Environmental and social LCA. Several relevant environmental impact indicators will be quantified, e.g. for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, acidification, eutrophication, toxicity or ozone formation, or depletion impacts. Regarding social impact, indicators relevant for rural communities will be investigated, e.g. the number of new jobs created, public health etc.

Assessment of phytochemical profiles in fish and shrimp tissues collected from Task 7.2

This document will report the methodology and results of the phytochemical profiling in key tissues of fish and shrimp fed with halophyte supplemented diets included data interlinking

Techno economic evaluation

This document will report the methodology and results of the Techno-economic evaluation. The economic model will provides multiple economic figures (e.g. capital expenditures (CAPEX), operational expenditures (OPEX), production costs, return of investment (ROI), net present value (NPV).

Paper on stabilisation of HCA by encapsulation

This deliverable will be a journal paper describing the methods and results on stabilisation of HCAs by encapsulation. This will include testing of different polymers such as: chitosan, poly-lactic-acid, poly (3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB), and poly ethylene glycol (PEG). Factors such as release profile of the active ingredient from the encapsulating material and skin permeation will be reported.

AQUACOMBINE workshop

A dedicated Workshop will be organised to disseminate and validate AQUA-COMBINE outcomes at the end of the project. It will include presentation of the AQUA-COMBINE technologies and a discussion about the relevant exploitation strategy. Participants will be invited from interested local authorities, key scientists, as well as policy makers within Europe, targeting as many Member States as possible, but also including representatives from outside Europe. A special training seminar will be organised and will operate as a driver for the training of future end users. To ensure wide-scale knowledge and technology transfer, partners will structure dedicated training programs for internal research staff as well as other partners in the Consortium.
