E-obd For Lpg systems

Objective

The emission limits defined in EURO IV will be valid for alternative transport fuel e.g. LPG by the year 2005. The LPG kits which are for the time being used by some European passenger car producers as well as importers will not be able to keep the strong limits of EURO IV and won't be able to guarantee on board diagnostics according to the EC directive 98/69/EEC which will be duty since 2000 for gasoline driven cars and since 2005 for LPG driven cars. Aim of the RTD proposal is to develop and to test an engine management system for dual fuel passenger vehicles which will be able ensure an optimized motor control for both fuels resulting in an efficiency up to 45 %, higher specific torque, an exceeding of EURO IV emission limits, the possibility of engine on board diagnostics (E-OBD) also in LPG mode and energy savings up to 10%.
