Project description
A new device lets you breathe easy at home
Indoor air pollution is a major environmental health concern causing serious health effects. While air pollutants can come from outside, most are released inside the building during activities like cooking and heating. Furniture and construction materials, as well as dampness and lack of ventilation, can further increase indoor air pollution. Methods used to eliminate harmful substances from the air, including mechanical filtering, ionisation, and chemical methods, are high in energy use and usually require heavy installation. The JONIXAirPlasma project developed a unique device that combines air filtration with purification. It has a high removal rate efficiency of over 95 %, with zero chemicals used and zero residues produced. It also comes with an App and cloud-based software.
Objective
People spend 90% of their time indoors. Indoor air quality can be 2 to 5 times more polluted than the outside, caused by factors such as the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), Volatile Inorganic Compounds (VIC), airborne microorganism (bacteria, virus, mould, fungi, etc.), particulates by furnishings and building materials, poor ventilation and the presence of tobacco smoke or household fuels. Indoor pollution is responsible for 2.7% of the global diseases. In Europe it causes 4.3% of deaths of children aged 0 to 4 years and has a prevalence on asthmatic symptoms of children up to 37% representing a cost of 152-234 M€. Current technologies focus either on air filtration (mechanical removal of contaminant) or air purification (air treatment using specific treatment). Main solutions currently available are: Mechanical filtration, Ionization, Absorption and Ozone generation. But those technologies are either high energy consuming and noisy, have a limited range of contaminant removal, produce residues or consume chemicals and need usually a heavy installation and maintenance which increase the overall cost of the air treatment service. Our JONIXAirPlasma technology is a unique and complete solution providing both air filtration and purification in a same device which 1) has a high removal rate efficiency (over 95%) on all kind of air contaminants (VOC, VIC, air-born pathogens, odours, etc.), 2) does not produce any residue nor consume any chemicals, 3) is instantaneously installed (stand-alone device) and has convenient maintenance, 4) is logical and Intuitive thanks to its touch screen and App with remote control with cloud-based software. JONIX is an experienced SME, created in 2014 with an annual turnover of 341K€ turnover and 3 full time employees. We have already sold worldwide over 1,000 of our star product: the CUBE.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
