One-of-a-kind therapy for crossed eyes. Helping families to reduce emotional and financial burden of eye therapy.

Periodic Reporting for period 3 - PLUTO (One-of-a-kind therapy for crossed eyes. Helping families to reduce emotional and financial burden of eye therapy.)

Período documentado: 2021-11-01 hasta 2022-10-31

The mother of the invention of the RemmedVR system, is the need for a large scale;ambylopia and strabismus is one of the most common disorders of binocular vision. The therapy used so far is long-lasting and requires the involvement of a number of specialists, carers and frequent visits to doctors' surgeries, and its success requires many patiently performed and burdensome recommendations. The RemmedVR system allows to avoid these tedious and not always effective treatments by introducing the therapy to the virtual reality, which reproduces the exercises performed so far analogically in the offices.RemmedVR is a set that includes VR goggles, mobile motion controllers, an application with exercises in the form of games, a panel for a specialist and a panel for a parent. It allows the child to exercise their eyesight through play, in a friendly environment, without unnecessary stress under the constant control of a specialist. The subject of the project is both the device and its software. It was created with the participation of ophthalmologists, optometrists and orthoptists, with the support of renowned medical institutes in Poland and Europe. Thanks to the RemmedVR solution, eye therapists provide services in the form of telemedicine and serve much more patients remotely than in a stationary facility, which is of enormous importance in times of pandemic. Home therapy is more engaging for younger patients and less absorbing for specialists. In addition, the clinics using our system do not incur investment costs for the purchase of expensive equipment, because an innovative model of selling the entire solution in the form of a service was applied.
Our team has been dedicated to achieving several objectives to advance our product and bring it to fruition. We have made significant progress in both the development and validation of this technology, as well as initiating steps to commercialize and communicate about our product. We've focused on developing RemmedVR technology, a vision therapy solution using VR,which progressed significantly. We identified a substantial opportunity within the field of neurodiagnostics, particularly for neurological and neurodegenerative disorders. The resulting product, NeuroScreen VR, is a groundbreaking solution that leverages eye-tracking technology to provide invaluable data about a patient's neurological function.By tracking eye movements,NeuroScreen VR offers a non-invasive method to gather and analyze neurological biomarkers, thus enabling early detection and monitoring of various neurological conditions. The hardware and software development for NeuroScreen VR was thoroughly carried out, ensuring optimal design efficiency and ergonomic user comfort. The software development phase included creating an application compatible with VR headsets, constructing various neurological function tests, and developing modern data analysis algorithms.A comprehensive system documentation was also prepared, detailing all stages of development and testing. We conducted scientific studies and trials with partner clinics across Europe and the US to ensure our VR products meet market demands and contribute to improved patient outcomes. We evaluated the effectiveness of Remmed VR solution in treating anisometropic amblyopia. The study found a significantly positive attitude towards VR rehabilitation compared to occlusion, suggesting the potential of VR technology as a supportive treatment protocol for anisometropic amblyopia. We also conducted thorough market research and competition analysis, engaged with key opinion leaders, and assessed the potential impact of the new NeuroScreen VR system. We also defined a comprehensive commercialization strategy, including pricing strategies, distribution channels, marketing, and promotional activities.Safety assessments, particularly eye-safety calculations regarding irradiance, were also performed to ensure the system's compliance with safety regulations and standards. We implemented a communication strategy that involved press releases, project website, social media and event organization. In summary, despite facing challenges and complexities,we have achieved considerable progress in the development, validation, commercialization, and communication of our technology,a promising tool that stands to contribute significantly to the fields of neurodiagnostics.
Vision therapy for people with vision disorders and strabismus is most effective when applied at an early age. This is why people who are just a few years old are forced to perform tedious exercises in stationary offices, requiring high frequency of visits. In addition, many children are told to wear eye patches, and as a result they have a negative impact on their socializing. In addition, in times of pandemic, such frequent in-patient visits to doctor's offices are impossible for many families, which clearly results in the complete suspension of therapy for a longer period. The duration of therapy is significantly increased and its effectiveness is reduced. There is currently no other available solution which offers easy-to-use remote for vision problems that is fully monitored by a doctor. Our technology is a breakthrough -It combines all scientifically supported therapeutic exercises that have been performed in doctors' offices so far with virtual reality. It is a child-friendly environment, where the therapy takes place by playing simple games. Thanks to an additional system, everything can be done remotely at home, still under the supervision of a specialist. It has its own panel in which it can change the game settings for a given patient's vision disorder and also monitor his progress.Such a solution significantly shortens the duration of therapy, has a positive social impact, can take place both in the doctor's office and at home, increased efficiency by greater involvement of patients in performing the exercises and many many more. NeuroScreen VR,with its non-invasive approach and quick results, offers an innovative and highly effective alternative. By leveraging eye-tracking technology, the system enables the extraction of neurological biomarkers simply by observing a patient's eye movements. The impact of NeuroScreen VR is expected to be profound. It will offer clinicians a new tool for early detection and monitoring of neurological conditions, which is critical for timely intervention and improved patient outcomes.NeuroScreen VR may also alleviate the burden on healthcare systems, reducing waiting times and freeing up resources. The wider societal implications are also considerable. For patients, the introduction of a non-invasive diagnostic tool could significantly reduce the stress associated with neurological assessments. For their families, earlier and more accurate diagnosis means that they can begin to access support and treatment sooner.NeuroScreen VR could potentially lead to substantial cost savings in healthcare. By facilitating early diagnosis, the system could help reduce the need for costly treatments later in disease progression.NeuroScreen VR could help address healthcare disparities by making high-quality neurodiagnostic care more accessible to remote or underserved populations. The commercialization of NeuroScreen VR also represents a promising development in the high-growth field of medical technology. It could stimulate economic growth by creating jobs in manufacturing, sales, and support services related to the product.
