Objective
OBJECTIVES
Most French-speaking technicians are confronted with literature of which the bulk is in English, and they need to understand such documents on a daily basis. The objective of the project is to produce self-learning modules for the comprehension of technical documents in English by capitalising on the methodology developed in the "Read Electronics in English" software, by taking some of the resources offered by the new multimedia technologies and by designing an easily expandable system.
ACTIVITIES
An analysis of needs in companies will be carried out so as to determine priority technical areas. In line with this, a search will be conducted to define the optimum conditions for the use of self-learning supports. The content will be specified and drafted by a team of linguists and educators, and validated through real life situations. The multimedia system will be designed by striking a balance between the most pertinent forms of interaction and the most cost effective kind of development, and in such a way as to increase the productivity of the project by allowing the addition of other modules (other fields, other source languages).
PRODUCTS
Self-learning modules for the comprehension of technical documents in English (the system developed for this software will be reused in other sectors of training and will use authentic documents).
