Acquiring, validating and transferring euro-competencies in medical and technical biology

Objective

OBJECTIVES
This project is based on the following observations: on the one hand there does not exist to date satisfactory systems of qualification for companies in the bio-medical and technical sectors which can respond in a versatile way to their specific qualification and redeployment needs. And on the other hand, the absence of common systems of reference in all the existing training programmes and the non-transparency of skills acquired through vocational training continues to slow down workers' mobility. To help resolve this problem, this project aims to create - at a European level - a modular system of acquisition, of evaluation and of validation of competencies in the bio-medical and technical sectors.

ACTIVITIES
The partners will analyse the systems of continuing vocational training in their respective countries and will identify the training programmes which would be susceptible to being modularised at a European level and which would be quantified into units of credit or "Eurocredits". This principle of quantification of training programmes will enable the production of a vocational file or a "portfolio of skills": a true European passport of continuing training which will allow the recording and the visibility of those skills acquired by workers. These files will be compiled in a data base which would be accessible to companies and to individuals. There will also be a European data bank of training programmes, where all accessible continuing training programmes will be presented. At the same time a questionnaire will be administered, aimed at identifying the needs of companies in terms of new skills and training. Continuing training modules of a type which would respond to these needs will therefore be created, as well as a training plan and a reconversion plan towards other active sectors (agro-food, pharmaceutical, environment, etc.).

PRODUCTS
The setting up of an official system of recognition and of validation of the Eurocompetencies; preparation of a training plan and a reconversion plan towards other active sectors; production of a European vocational file; creation of a central data bank of continuing training programmes in medical and technical biology and an expert system of evaluation and of advice with the possibility of examination by individuals and companies.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
