Euromotor technology training partnership

Objective

OBJECTIVES
The lean production structure adopted by the motor vehicle industry is placing more systems responsibility with suppliers, who are consequently having to upgrade their technical skills. This obviously requires investment in training. The objective of this project is to provide the European automotive supply industry with the skills and qualifications required for adaptation to industrial change and the challenges of global competition. The project will strengthen co-operation between training organisations, universities and enterprises, and will develop training plans connected with the transfer of technological innovation particularly to SMEs and the automotive industry.

ACTIVITIES
Representatives from industry, regional agencies and universities will set up working groups to consider training needs in the key areas of technology, organisational change, logistics and personnel development. Courses to train key personnel from the automotive supply industry will subsequently be designed. Some courses will use distance learning. All courses will be evaluated and updated regularly.

PRODUCTS
A training needs analysis and a series of training programmes in new technologies. These programmes will be a mixture of conventional courses plus books, databases, software, CD-ROM, simulation programmes and video cassettes depending on demand and need.
