Objective
OBJECTIVES
The civil aviation industry is a major sector in the European economy. There are approximately 800,000 employees in the Aviation Operations sector of the European Aviation industry. It is believed that over 70 % of these individuals have no formal vocational qualifications and often have little chance to access training opportunities because of the shift work. The objectives of this project involve the creation, production and use of innovative multimedia software which will provide opportunities for the development of highly qualified human resources employed in the aviation operations sector, with a particular focus on emerging technologies and health, safety and emergency procedures. The goal is that employees in this competitive industrial sector will gain recognition for their skills and will become aware of current and emerging vocational qualifications.
ACTIVITIES
The project involves the design, development, piloting and refinement of a multimedia skills development package which will provide individuals with initial or continuing opportunities to gain an understanding of the following areas: flight operations, ramp operations, aviation emergency procedures, airfield operations, aircraft loading operations, maintenance of health, safety and security, aviation communication and information transfer.
PRODUCTS
The project will result in a multimedia product which will provide individuals and organisations in the aviation operations sector with the opportunity to access existing relevant skill development materials. The materials will be structured in a manner and style which complements the user's preferred learning style, with appropriate support features and state-of-the-art interface principles and technologies.
