Community developers

Objective

OBJECTIVES
If regional development is to be promoted it is important that all people actively involved in socio-economic matters be called upon to join forces to work towards fixed objectives. For the sake of efficiency and in respect of the principle of subsidiarity, it is essential that they be trained to use the various Community instruments to ensure that the policies on regional development are actually incorporated at regional level. The project therefore aims to create a practical training course consisting of seminars, exchanges of experience, case studies and practical exercises with a view to making participants aware of the European programmes, helping them to prepare files, in fact providing assistance in all matters concerning the effective use of Community Funds.

ACTIVITIES
Four regions are involved in the project: Shannon, Sheffield, Viborg, Nord-Pas de Calais. Firstly, the partners will define a typical training curriculum. This will be achieved on the basis of an evaluation made by Community developers under a previous project. The partners will participate in the design of training modules in order to be able to evaluate their relevance in respect of the requirements of the local players from the four regions and to adjust their content accordingly. Once the adjustments have been made, the final training curriculum will be implemented and practical exercises carried out. The curriculum will be distributed over the widest area possible, to other regions or organisations interested in the project.

PRODUCTS
- Training curriculum focusing on regional requirements and identified target beneficiaries (local decision-makers and people active in the implementation of regional development projects).
