Objective
OBJECTIVES
In recent years the glass industry has undergone numerous technological, economic and organisational changes coupled with increasing unpredictability as far as future developments are concerned. These changes have made the organisation of efficient continuing training systems particularly necessary throughout the sector. This is why the Association of European Glaziers, the UEMV, has been working for several years on the alignment of vocational training in the various professions of the glass industry. A project addressing the definition of occupational profiles was completed under the FORCE programme and the partners now want to continue their efforts with the aim of improving and harmonising initial and continuing training in this sector, stimulating co-operation between the training institutions and the companies, and developing exchanges of information and experiences relating to training and changes in the sector.
ACTIVITIES
Initially, the partners will set up a network linking the companies in the UEMV and training institutions. They will then develop training programmes on the basis of an analysis of the training requirements and occupational profiles defined under the FORCE project. New training contents, methods and tools will be developed, with particular attention being given to recent technological innovations in the glass sector. The modular training programmes created will then be tested and evaluated before being validated at European level. A database providing information on available training courses and various changes in the sector will be made available to the members of the network.
PRODUCTS
- Design of modular training programmes for workers in the glass industry and young people undergoing initial training (training modules, tools and material).
- Definition of occupational profiles.
- Creation of a data bank relating to training and various changes in the sector.
- Establishment of a network of companies and training institutes.
