International project for health and safety training for union representatives

Objective

OBJECTIVES
The implementation of framework Directive 89/391 on health and safety requires the introduction of new training programmes for employee representatives. But even though training programmes in different countries have common objectives and contents, the way in which they are applied remains flexible. The objective of the project is thus to bring about an exchange of the training experiences of trade union representatives in the areas of health and safety and to analyse this experience in terms of effectiveness. The partners will develop flexible criteria to satisfy the requirements of the various areas of activity and will determine the contents of basic and advanced training programmes relating to the economic sectors or specific industrial activities.

ACTIVITIES
A first meeting will concentrate on the current situation in Spain. Two further meetings, which will take place in the United Kingdom and Denmark, will enable the partners to keep each other informed of the situation regarding the levels of training used in these two countries. Local visits will be organised. The partners will also organise meetings in each of the countries concerned, which will be attended by external experts who will evaluate the training materials and methods. Training methods and sets of recommendations will then be developed.

PRODUCTS
- Training material and guides for people taking part in training.
- Manuals for trainers as back-up material to the training modules.
- Creation of an international network for the training of trade union representatives in the areas of health and safety.
