Objective
OBJECTIVES
Numerous changes have taken place in the farm/food produce industry which have had repercussions on qualification requirements. This is because farm produce businesses are increasingly looking for people trained in the new European quality, hygiene and health regulations etc. Consequently, it is necessary to adapt university training to the real needs of the labour market. The project therefore proposes to improve the quality of continuing vocational training for the SMEs of the sector by introducing a European dimension.
ACTIVITIES
The project will be implemented in three phases. Firstly, the partners will create interdisciplinary work groups who will be responsible for analysing existing training systems and developing training methods which meet the respective requirements. Then these programmes will be implemented and supplementary teaching tools created. They will be evaluated by the work groups and refined if necessary. Finally, the programmes will be distributed and transferred to other European countries. A database will be set up and a supervisor appointed to ensure that companies' requirements and training offered by universities are kept in alignment.
PRODUCTS
The project proposes to produce a training programme incorporating several tools including guides for trainers and trainees, a CD-ROM, and an electronic network providing access to transnational information. It will also create a database providing information on continuing vocational training and listing the qualification requirements expressed by companies and qualifications offered by universities.
