Qualification and transfer of competencies in molecular biology: transnational network and development of innovative learning tools

Objective

OBJECTIVES
Molecular biology, a sector currently undergoing rapid growth, is opening up multiple avenues to companies in numerous sectors. However, it has been observed that there is a lack of alignment between research and production, which is exacerbated by the fact that employees are inadequately prepared for the changes in the tools used in the field of molecular biology. The adaptation of vocational training programmes in molecular biology and the development and transfer of innovative skills at company level are responses to unavoidable technological changes. It is hoped that the transnationality and multi-disciplinarity of the system will lead to European coherence and to an improvement in competitiveness.

ACTIVITIES
In view of the very rapid development in the tools used in molecular biology, it seems appropriate to create a modular theoretical and practical training course, complemented by multimedia systems which can be accessed by anyone at any time, thus allowing the content to be adapted easily. The project will be centred around seven major phases: the development of a European course, compilation of updated data in partner countries, design of a typical molecular biology module, a transnational schedule of training measures, questionnaire for identifying companies' new skills requirements in this sector, setting up of a European company/university network, production of a multimedia tool in the subject area of molecular biology.

PRODUCTS
The partners of the project will produce modular, transnational theoretical and practical training measures, will make provision for the use of multimedia tools, self-training tools (books, manuals), trainer seminars on a transnational level and individualised, tutor-supported training programmes.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
