Transforming practice for local development professionals

Objective

OBJECTIVES
The players involved in local development (councillors, technicians, community officials, socio-professionals etc.) often lack, on the one hand, a global training including methods for diagnosing problems, leading projects and evaluation, and on the other hand, concrete information on the European tools which they can use. In order to respond to these deficiencies, the partners propose to introduce a training programme for community development agents which will provide them with a global approach to the problem instead of the sectoral approach taken previously. In parallel, a network of local players will be set up in the European regions in difficulty.

ACTIVITIES
Training modules will be developed by the partners on the basis of an in-depth analysis of existing training programmes and the skills requirements not covered in the three regions of the partnership. The diversity of the urban and rural contexts in the different regions will be taken into account. The training modules will be tested and improved on site with the aid of local players, and exchanges between trainers and trainees will be organised. In a second phase, it is planned to broaden the experiment to include other Member States.

PRODUCTS
Creation of training modules on local development and production of a teaching portfolio.
